Bandara Sursock, tcherrafna.it’s WACKY, it’s CRAZY, it’s MAD!

ooooohhh!!!The Banadoura d’Or is an official annual spoof award, singling out the worst achievements in the Arabic Entertainment Industry. It covers all aspects of the Creative Industry in the MENA Region. Although this award mostly targets Arabs, the non-Arabs who collaborated with them on their productions are also eligible. The Banadoura d’or will also be honouring every year the wackiest Arab personalities for their extravagance, craziness, or mishaps that best echo the amusing concept of this award.

INGREDIENTS
Fat reduced Fun Powder (7.4%), skimmed absurdity (5%), sense of humour extract, demineralised excitement, hydrogenated madness oils, emulsifier (entertainment lecithin), natural irony flavouring.

The Banadoura d’Or is an officially registered award! Yes, we take our fun seriously ;) . The winners will receive an actual trophy, and will be expected to give an acceptance speech! This will test their sense of humour, and give them the opportunity to laugh at their own failures with the Arabic public. After all, it takes a true artist to venture into an experimental project that has no guarantees for success. In a way, we will be celebrating their courage and saluting them for trying their best.

These awards aren’t just about B-movies and most sub-mediocre songs as much as they are about the most disappointing ones. The ones that should win are the ones that turned out worse than expected, thus making them even worse than the ones that weren’t meant to be good in the first place. There will be no pretentious jury here to interfere in the results. YOU will determine the final nominees! One thing’s for sure, no artist will pay to get a banadoura;)

The Banadoura d’Or will also be honouring each year, celebrities and public figures with special attributes, which would not otherwise receive any of the other existing awards in Lebanon or the Middle East and North Africa.

The Banadoura d’Or is the offspring of an earlier underground award called Akel Hawa d’Or. It has retained the same degree of parody and madness of its hilarious seasonal underground ancestor, but is packaged in a more standard format, making it one step closer to actual prestigious awards. Although it is tailored for the Middle East, future plans might involve an expansion to include other Asian countries like Turkey, and further east like India. We might even engulf all Euro-Mediterranean countries into our madness. Eurovision, here we come!
