We are receiving a lot of inquiries regarding the nature of Special Banadouras. The Special Banadoura Awards are either suggested to us by the public or could also be based on our own initiative, to reward funny occurrences or mishaps in the Arab society.
Every prestigious Award also gives out honorary trophies alongside the regular ones. Our SBO is a funny way to recognize the not so outstanding people in the Creative Industry, and to insure that each honouree is given his/her full due of embarrassment
These special awards could be awarded to absolutely anyone and for anything. Although, it is preferable that the subject matter be known to the larger public, less famous incidents or less known figures will also do just fine. We hope it is clearer now. If not, then nominate us for worst explanation and clarification!
PS: They don’t necessarily have to be bad!

We received a peculiar nomination for Amine Gemayel as Biggest Oups.

At first we thought it was a regular hate message, but when we read the comment we fell on the ground from laughing! We had completely forgotten all about that incident! What was going straight into the bin became a perfect nomination! This is why you should always fill out the comment section when you nominate someone!
During an important gathering Amine Gemayel insisted in his speech that he wanted Michel Aoun for president, to the complete shock and dismay of his audience. He soon noticed his mistake, and apologized while laughing.
This Big Oups occurred in 2008, but if we get a lot of nominations we might make an exception. After all it’s not Amine Gemayel’s fault the Banadoura d’Or didn’t exist back then!
We are sure that with his good sense of humour he will accept the award with a smile. In following interviews, he himself acknowledged that his mistake was rather funny!
